i bought Centaur - In Streams last night. i know perfectly well we are going into the fourth month of two thousand and three. i still want to say i think it is the best album of last year. that is it is the best album that was released last year, fuck nora jones and all that bull shit. i know i have been going on for ever on the good life album, but i must admit it is a hard thing to say but i think the centaur album is better, i'm not saying by much in fact i'm almost willing to call it a draw. but damn is it fantastic. i listened to it five time threw, straight. and it still gave me goosebumps in the car today. it is soo good. for those of you who don't know, Centaur is a band i heard about umm... three years ago about, and i have been looking for any sign of life from said band. finally a couple of months ago, right before the move, i found out they had released an album without my knowledge and it had been out for a couple more months. so i get out here and the second day i find a record store to order it from, it takes them a month to get it for me and it takes me a month to get a pay check and buy the album from them... but enough about me back to the band. the front man of centaur is one Mr. Matt Tolbot who, if that name does not ring any bells, was the front man for the incredible band that was Hum. if you like Hum, or are a fan of the sonic rock sound, or just don't want me to kick your teeth in find this album and get it, or atleast give it a listen. matt and the rest of the band really have done a stand up job. and he continues to prove why i love him so much, with his vocals echoing on half the tracks and the beautiful way he can put in a heavy pound of guitar into a slow mellow song and keep it something that has more of a touching feeling to it than a metal edge. if nothing else Tom download it i know you will like it or if you ask nicely i might make you a copy to hold you over untill you can get your own cause it might be hard to come by. |
