the issue of reparation for slavery is something that has botherd me since i first heard about it, and it's really been bugging the hell out of me lately thanks to new protests and media coverage. personally i think it is one of the biggest scams in history, with my one exception and that is any person who was once a slave that that today is alive, well, i really don't seen any problem with giving them a bit of money from the government. anyone who was not a slave however they should get nothing. why should it be the responsibility of the government to pay them in the first place. you have this group of black people (and no i will not say "african american" becuase i don't get called "caucasian") whose great great granddaddy was a slave at one point in his life be it he was born on a plantation two days before the government freed the slaves (at the cost of hundreds of thousands of caucasian lives i might add). so this group whos grand daddys grandpas where slaves wants to be re...(i'll be right back i've got a pizza in the oven.)...(ok sorry, i'm back)...imbursed for suffering they never had to go through themselves. and they want me to pay for this. i will not. the government gets the majority of it's money from taxes everyone pays, where do you think the money for reparations will come from? i don't know about you but i know a hellava lot of people and i don't know anyone who owned slaves, muchless anyone who's great great grandparents owned slaves. besides, the government did not own slaves individuals owned the slaves, the government just didn't free them soon enough i guess. if it happend to be the case that my great great grandfather was a slave owner i tell you where i would be right now, i would be on the steps of the capital building or in front of the whitehouse protesting that the government give me money for loss of my great great grandpappy's property. you know what i think we should all seek reparations, we could all claim something, i mean hell everyone has a history of thier people being inslaved at one point in history or another by some ruling body. i am going to fly to rome and demand atleast a dollor from the government for killing my lord and savior... the whole thing is ridiculous, what i would like to know is a)how many of these people are on welfare and too lasy to get a job because i personally have better things to do than persue such frivolity and b)how many of these people realise that they only have thier own ancesters a generation or two further back to blame? i mean q- who captured thier great great gradpa and then sold him in to slavery to the whites? a- another persons great great great grandfather who was in a rival tribe in africa. if you want to look at someone for reparations bug jessie jackson or michael jackson or martin. just don't expect me to give a damn for you, i was just going to the store for some preparation-h. can i get an amen? |
