- so get my oil changed and cashed my check and went to sonic and i drive to austin.
- i get there and have like two hours to kill befor anyone should be free.
- i find the tower records store where the gloria record is playing (for free) the next day and browse, find nothing. however i learn that the moldy peaches are playing the very next day after the gloria record (to clarify my speak it's the day after the gloria record is playing).
- of course after the gloria show i have to leave austin and drive the 157 miles back to houston to work all night so i will miss the show, however it will make ashley terribly happy to find this out.
- the moldy peaches play our song: Gorge Ragula
- i'm walking down the street
- there's a small hole in the wall record store, so of course i go in. AND THEY HAVE THE NEW GOOD LIFE ALBUM!!!! and used at that, aint nobody has the album, but they did, USED!!!
- so mark, terribly excited, buys the album and goes back to his car and puts it in his player and just sits in his car parked on some dark back alley street of a foreign town for twenty minutes listening... hmmmm he thinks, hmmmm not quite what i hoped for, not quite as good as their first album, main point against it tim just doesnt' let his voice go as much and that really was the main appeal of the first album and what drew me to them when i first saw them play.
- so i drive around with the album on, some songs sound alright but i almost really didn't like it, and i would of if i could of brought myself to it.
- i find the austin convention center and park and go over and get a map of the towns venues (because i didn't know where the gloria record was supposed to play that night) found out the club was two blocks down the street, so i walked over.
- dispite the flyers saying all ages the guy at the door remains an ass about it being 21 and up so i'm like whateva' and leave. go find a pay phone and make some calls.
- meet people and go to dinner and go to bed.
- wake up, change, use the bathroom*, i get a bite to eat.
- kill two hours, my car has a parking ticket from campus police, go and pay it(it was only 25 bucks) get some lovely bike helmet safety propaganda, drive around for another hour. all the while listening over and over to the good life.
- gloria is playing in an hour so i go back to that back alley and park. walk around a street market near tower and buy a gift, a lovely color that goes well with her complextion and her eyes. go back to tower and talk to hubbard for a minute* or two. watch the band thats on stage- the boogs, they where pretty good, some bluegrass american roots music project by some early twenty something emo poster children... except the banjo player he was all punk rock and tatted out. i enjoyed it.
- gloria plays, i enjoy it. closed with i was born in omaha, i decide it is my second favorite gloria song, of course i think i realized that the first time i heard it in sacramento.
- i go to ashleys hotel and don't know what room she is in and the guy behind the desk doesn't know so i call her cell long distance from the loby pay-phone (it only cost me two dollars and fifty cents to find out what room she was in).
- went up and then we went out got some food and after a couple minutes of cuddling started my drive home.
- the twelfth rotation of the goodlife ended and i took it out of the player pleased very much with the album, i guess i just needed to hear it two dozen times(and yes i do recognize my math flaws).
- i'm only fourty five miles from austin and hella tired, so i search for talk radio to save me(it is a wonderful thing on road trips, really, talk radio will wake you up, odd)anyway, just my luck hockey is on... and not just hockey, but a stars game
- i haven't had the chance to catch a stars game all season, i was terribly excited.
- they ended up with a tie after over time, of course there was a tie before over time, but you know what i mean.
- the game ends and i'm in brenham, put on my catherine wheel album and make it to work only twenty minutes late.

*so i used the restroom in my friends dorm, a female friend, and the bathroom stalls had little brown paper bags/sacks in them, they where the perfect size for a forty or a can of coors or something, and i know that girls are differnt from boys so i figured the bags probly wheren't for beer... and it kind of confused me, still does.
*so i'm talking to hubbard and chris (simpson) and ends up the show the previous night at the red room that i didn't get into got shut down, the manager of the place was an ass an called the fire marshall to shut it down even though it was only a third full or something like that, so i didn't really miss anything.
*i listened to the good life album thrice at work, yes, i do like it
